UTAH BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHY

FAQs

I live my life on call! When I get word that you’re in active labor, I’m ready to drop everything to join you. I stay and document your labor until 1-2 hours postpartum, whether labor lasts 10 minutes or 10+ hours. I come in snow or rainstorms, on holidays, and in the middle of the night; anytime people have babies, I’m there.
-
A lot of people react with something like, “Ew, no!” when they hear what I do. There’s more to it than you think, I promise — and it’s definitely not all about the crotch shots! Birth photography is about the day’s emotions, the details you miss while you’re laboring, and the love surrounding you as you bring your little one into the world. I'm an expert in capturing those moments for you.
-
It’s up to you! If you’d like to meet me face-to-face before your big day, I’m always happy to grab a drink, get a bite to eat, or visit you at your home. It’s not required, though; I meet many of my clients for the first time when they’re in labor.
-
As graphic as you want them to be! Some people love pictures of their baby crowning and entering the world, and others prefer a more modest viewpoint. Either way, I’m there for it! Long before I get to your birth location, I’ll make sure I’m familiar with your preferences and vision for your birth photos.
-
As many as paint an accurate picture of your story! For most birth galleries, I send between 125-175 images. However, shorter births might have closer to 100 images, and longer births might have 200+.
-
I do — bounce flash, that is! Using flash, especially for births that happen at night or in the dark, allows me to quickly illuminate the space and capture crisp, clear photos. The flash only fires for 1/64th of a second, though, and it’s always pointed over my shoulder to bounce behind me and reflect light. I’ve never had a parent complain about it, but if it does bother you, please let me know.
-
I deliver all images in color and a few artistically selected images from the gallery in black and white. If you prefer to have copies of each image in black and white, let me know, and I’ll be happy to do that for you.
-
Only with your permission. All my clients sign a model release that lets me know which images from your gallery, if any, are OK to share. I would never want to share anything that you’re not 100% comfortable with.
-
Even though I arrive fast to every birth, sometimes babies come even faster! If I miss the moment of your birth due to no fault of my own, I’ll arrive as soon as possible to document the emotional moments following your fast, unpredictable birth. I stay longer than usual postpartum to document your baby’s first hours of life, and if I still don’t have enough for a full gallery, we can schedule a makeup lifestyle session.
-
I like to arrive when I know my client is in active labor or 5-6 centimeters dilated for first-time birthers. If you’ve had multiple births, I come when you’re in active labor, when your water breaks, or when your contractions are consistent and strong. Based on these factors and your labor history, we’ll decide together when it’s best for me to arrive.

I do not deliver photos or videos until you are paid in full, but I do have payment plans and financing options available!
